It is time to demystify Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have an impact on the way we live and work together in the future. The societal implication of this technology is often discussed in a negative and speculative context, often by people who don’t know the basic principles of AI and even misunderstand what AI is all about. To overcome this situation and take back the discussion to a more rational context in a move of social responsibility, Reaktor and the University of Helsinki came together in spring 2018 with the aim of helping people to be empowered, not threatened, by artificial intelligence. Reaktor is a tech and consulting company based in Helsinki. They have experience in applying AI in business.
Together, they built the Elements of AI to teach the basics of AI to people from a wide range of backgrounds. Elements of AI is a series of free online courses. The introductory course covers 4 chapters:
- What is AI?
- AI Problem Solving
- Real World AI
- Machine Learning
- Neural Networks
- The Societal Implications of AI
The intent of this course is to encourage as broad a group of people as possible to learn what AI is , what can (and can’t) be done with AI, and how to start creating AI methods. The courses combine theory with practical exercises and can be completed at your own pace.
